Smart Mountain Village - Aldeia do Sabugueiro. Energy efficient lighting solution to improve social and environmental aspects of rural life - SMART CITIES project

About Smart Cities in Portugal, we have a Energy, IoT, M2M pioneer project.

Sabugueiro, in the Serra da Estrela mountains, is the highest village in Portugal. The municipality of Seia and the Vodafone Foundation decided to transform this village into an example of good practices and innovation in terms of environmental sustainability, savings, urbanism and mobility.

 Together they are implementing a pilot project, called Smart Mountain Village, to enhance the quality of life for the residents and increase the environmental performance of this rural area, which comprises nine villages.

The village was supplied with technological solutions to improve daily life in different areas, such as the infrastructure (electricity and water), health (monitoring of vital signs), mobility and entertainment.

Para isso contribuem projetos em áreas diversas como a energética dos edifícios e domicílios, a mobilidade, a saúde, a iluminação pública e os recursos hídricos. Sempre respeitando os traços da aldeia e da sua envolvente, foram implementadas no terreno soluções Machine to Machine (M2M) ou IoT (Internet of Things), entre outras, segundo revela a Fundação Vodafone.
