Porto Summer of Code (PSC) is a hackathon in the city of Porto, Portugal.
Everyone can participate. It’s free, it’s fun, and there are prizes for the best projects.

1. Event

PSC is a team-based hackathon.
The main competition’s goal is to create a mainstream product and then present it to a jury. The teams with the best projects are awarded prizes.
There are also satellite activities, like workshops, as the participants are expected to have fun and socialize, while learning a thing or two about Porto and its tech scene.

1.1. Location

PSC happens in the the city of Porto, Portugal.
As in the last two editions, the venue will provide the participants with a shared working area, as well as chill-out and eating zones.

1.2. Schedule

PSC is a 3-day competition. It starts on September 9th and ends on September 11th.
The first 2 days of the event are restricted to the participants. That’s when most of the work is done, and the teams should maximize their focus.
The last day is a celebration of the work done, as the teams will present their projects, and the event is open to the general public.

1.3. Participation

PSC is a free event and everyone can apply, be it alone or in a team of up to 4 elements.
By applying, you are automatically entering the programming competition and committing yourself to develop a software project during the 3 days of the event.

1.3.1. Participation in workshops

2. Competition

PSC’s backbone is a team-based coding competition, whose goal is to create and present a mainstream product.
The competition is divided in two phases:
  1. In the first 2 days of the event teams turn their product idea into reality
  2. In the final day the projects are presented to a jury, in an open session where the winners are decided
