Today more than half of the world’s population lives in cities and it is expected that by 2050 more than 2/3 of the global population will live in urban environments.
As urban density increases, it brings a degradation of the quality of life, because of urban sprawl and traffic congestion, commuting has become a time sink and a major factor of air pollution. This reality will require a new approach to city development, bringing us the concept of Smart Cities.
A Smart City integrates digital technology, data, and services to improve the city efficiency, a better quality of life, sustainability of natural resources, efficient and reliable infrastructure and services. The future of Smart Cities will need to explore new approaches for better, more sustainable transportation technologies and models to improve commute times and accelerate the transport of people and goods across town while improving urban mobility.
Using Smart Cities as inspiration, the challenge of CODE RACE 2020 consists of delivering a workable solution (Web and/or Mobile app) to improve the Automotive Sector.
Teams of 4 elements must deliver a back-end solution (server with business logic; database) and a front-end solution (browser, mobile or both).
