New Report on Tech Skills & Startups - europeanstartupinitiative.eu

Building a startup is usually not an easy undertaking. You want to make sure that you have the right people by your side. Especially for businesses based on technology, that also means to have people with the right tech skills in your team.

Together with venture studio Etinx, we have analyzed the situation of tech skills in European startups: Do European founders know how to code? What makes a good CTO? What strategies help startups to attract the right tech talent? We want to share what we found out and invite you to read our latest report.

CTOs & Tech Co-Founders: European Startups and the Competition over Tech Talent

For our latest report, we teamed up with Etinx, a transnational venture studio that helps startups develop their product and build their company.

We analyzed 3,000 founder profiles from 35 countries and interviewed startups and support organizations from across Europe. One of our key findings: Only about one third (34.56%) of startup founders in Europe have relevant tech skills.

Alumni Spotlight

“DEEPSEA is Not Only About Upgrading Skills – It is More about Changing Mindsets”

We are very proud of our alumni and love celebrating their impact. Daniel Bukenya Yiga participated in our DEEPSEA East Africa program for startup ecosystem builders.

Aside from learning new tools and connecting with peers across the globe, Daniel values the new perspective he gained: Ecosystems thrive if you start building networks and stop “working in silos and perceiving each other as rivals”.
