STARTUP ESTONIA - newsletter Web Summit

On October 7-8, we had the pleasure of hosting the world's largest cleantech business ideas competition, the ClimateLaunchpad Finals in Tallinn, Estonia. This amazing event featured 80+ cleantech startups from 30 countries. What ended up adding to the overall awesomeness was the fact that the first place prize stayed "home" - an Estonian cleantech startup Gleather won the competition! Photo: Maido Parv

In October, startup marketplace Funderbeam raised
$2.6M from investors including Tim Draper, UK-based VC IQ Capital partners, and Thomson Reuters and an additional €455k through their own platform; logistics startup Shipitwise kicked off their second crowdfunding campaign raising over €170k; team productivity startup Weekdone celebrated its 4th birthday and hit 2,3M items posted on their platform; Starship Technologies reached 10k miles with its courier robots in their first year of testing; car rental marketplace Autolevi reached a milestone of 10k users.

As autumn is definitely a high season for tech conference in Europe, we hope that you too are getting ready to attend some international conferences this autumn. We at Startup Estonia have made our picks and will be out at
Slush and Web Summit - if you happen to be there, make sure to swing by our booth, at Web Summit we are in Pavilion 1! Missed out on the early bird price for Slush? For all startups, now is your last chance to get your ticket for 250€ by using the code SLSHXSTARTUPSTONIA. But be quick, there are only 50 tickets for the fastest!

In October, our attention was largely on cleantech as we hosted the world's largest cleantech business idea competition,
ClimateLaunchpad, here in Tallinn. More than 500 people, including nearly 90 startup teams from 30 countries came together to compete and we're happy to say that an Estonian team came out on top as Gleather, working on producing leather-like material out of gelatine, won the competition! See the photos from the event here and hear the entertaining podcast that was made on the spot here.

On another note, this month we're organising the
Tallinn Startup Week that is coming up on the 14th-20th of November! Some of the biggest local startups are opening their doors for meetups, workshops, office hours and more! Stay tuned here!

Have a great October and keep up with being awesome! :)
