Recently, IEEE Communications Society has developed a strategic framework based on the principles that embrace Industry's interests and priorities while integrating IEEE and ComSoc's objectives.
In order to engage industry members with high value and innovative technologies, IEEE Communications Society plans to hold a series of high impact one day Summits in emerging technology areas (e.g., SDN/NFV, 5G, IoT, Big Data, and Cybersecurity).
The standardization organizations with inputs from companies and the research community worldwide are now driving the evolution of wireless communication networks towards the Fifth Generation (5G), with Europe already playing a central role through 5GPPP.
This evolution will benefit operators, service providers, manufacturers and application developers, as well as companies of mostly any other sector, since wireless technology will improve their processes and positively impact the world economy, and finally the citizens that will enjoy communications with improved quality and new services.
The IEEE 5G Lisbon Summit is part of a successful series of 5G Summits that have been held since 2015 in America, Asia and Europe, and will contribute to continuous provision of a platform for the industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from the industry and academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas in this emerging technology that may help in driving the standards and rapid deployment.
The event will be held in Instituto de Telecomunicações/ISCTE-IUL on January 19th, 2017, in Lisbon, Portugal, co-located with 22nd Seminar of the Portuguese Network of Excellence for Mobile Communications (RTCM), to be held on January 18th, 2017.
The programme is composed of a rich blend of speakers from industry, academia, research labs, standardization and regulation bodies, covering different main topics, and is organized into five technical sessions together with a Panel on How Far is the Horizon of 5G Networks:
Augusto Albuquerque, Rui Aguiar, Dutta Ashutosh and Ramjee Prasad
Global Vision
The Radio Perspective
The Network and Verticals Perspective
The Standardization Perspective
Application, Business models and Portuguese Operators Perspective
.
The Lisbon 5G Summit is co-sponsored by IEEE Communications Society, and IEEE Lisbon Chapter.
