So, I guess you heard it already, we lost Stephen Hawking, one of the greatest and more innovative minds of all times. Besides all the praises, stories, facts and requiems we will get to read in the coming days, for me the most notable thing about Stephen was the fact that he didn’t allow his physical limitations to hinder his quest to answer the questions he asked.
At Beta-i we constantly try to follow that same root, pushing partners, accelerating startups, in a quest to drive innovation forward. One of such examples is the Free Electrons program, a truly global startup acceleration program, in 8 different geographies. We attracted more than 500 Startups, from 65 countries, and the reason why it was a huge success is because everybody worked as a team, there were no time differences there was only hard-work.
Protechting, a project we built in close partnership with Fidelidade and Fosun, just launched the third edition. The iteration 3.0 of this startup acceleration programme aims to support the development of international projects that contribute to improve solutions in three strategic areas: Healthtech, Insurtech and Fintech. When we say we are "leading the transformation of a new culture of humanized digital innovation”, we mean business!
Last, but never the least, I would like to talk about our SIBS PayForward initiative. Three startups were selected in the bootcamp, which took place between February 26th and March 2nd. These startups – Coinscrap, GoFact, and Sstrategy – are now entering the 10 week acceleration phase, where they will be able to test their solutions in alignment with the Open Banking API platform being developed by SIBS for the national ecosystem. In addition, SIBS will also analyze collaboration models, both nationally and internationally, with four other startups, whose projects are aligned with the company strategy.
It's still a sad day, since we lost Stephen, but we can find some solace in the fact that we remain focused on 'Building the Innovation Ecosystem’, one giant leap at a time!
