hacking & raising capital, despite the crisis
Hey, y'all!
The Global Hack was definitely one of the highlights of April. Hackathon organized from Estonia, brought together over 12 000 participants from 100+ countries, working on 500+ life-changing products to hack the COVID-19 crisis. We are proud of Maarika Truu, Head of Startup Estonia for being one of Europe’s most influential women in the startup and venture capital space. Other Estonians on the list are Kaidi Ruusalepp, founder and CEO of Funderbeam and Karoli Hindriks, founder of Jobbatical.
TalTech is planning to implement a TISC- program (“Traineeship in a startup company“ program),
with a goal to create a program where students can conduct their research or thesis on the topics given by startups. This program can give (early-stage) startups a perfect opportunity to conduct time-consuming activities with the help of students. Feedback and interest from the startups is expected here.
Even though times are uncertain, startups are still raising capital. Dashbird.io, a platform for serverless application monitoring raised €1,9M in a seed round, led by Paladin Capital Group, with participation from Passion Capital, Icebreaker.vc and Lemonade Stand. Speakly raised €900K seed to expand its science-based language learning platform led by Finnish firm Superhero Capital, with the participation of Estonian VCs Trind Ventures and Contriber Ventures, London-Stockholm-based TrueSight Ventures, and private angels. Visory, a startup focused on AI vision system specifically trained to predict the behaviours within urban technology environments, participated in Dubai Future Foundation accelerator and raised €250K from Superangel.
Stay safe & stay safe!
