Beta-Start volta a chamar empreendedores

  O programa de aceleração de ideias promovida pela Beta-i volta ao terreno com mais uma edição, desta vez dedicado às ideias empreendedoras na área das indústrias criativas.

Podem participar nesta iniciativa da Associação de Promoção da Inovação e Empreendedorismo empreendedores e start-ups com projetos na área design, redes sociais, publicidade, cinema ou televisão, entre outras áreas.

Os interessados podem inscrever-se no programa até ao próximo dia 7 de novembro, através do site da Beta-Start, onde estão disponíveis todas as informações necessárias, como o programa ou o novo dos formadores que ajudarão os candidatos a preparar as ideias para chegar ao mercado. A seleção de participantes decorre no dia 9 de novembro e o programa tem lugar entre 12 de novembro e 19 de dezembro.

As indústrias criativas representam hoje 3% da riqueza criada no país e 2,7% do emprego. Um estudo de 2010 indica que Portugal exportou nesse ano 1.020 milhões de euros em bens culturais e criativos, 1.650 milhões de euros em bens relacionados e 1.175 milhões de euros em serviços criativos.

Passatempo TeK/FCA: À procura da melhor ideia para uma app iOS

  A FCA celebra hoje o seu 21º aniversário. No âmbito da parceria que tem juntado a editora de livros técnicos ao TeK nos últimos meses, permitindo aos leitores o acesso antecipado aos conteúdos dos livros editados pela FCA, lançamos hoje um passatempo.

Para oferecer temos dois exemplares do livro "Desenvolvimento em iOS iPhone, iPad e iPod Touch - Curso Completo", um título da autoria de Nuno Fonseca, Catarina Reis, Catarina Silva, Luis Marcelino e Vitor Carreira, editado pela FCA.

Vai levar os livros para casa quem apresentar as melhores ideias (ou as mais loucas) para uma nova aplicação para iOS. Procuramos originalidade e um bom argumento para justificar a necessidade de aprender a desenvolver aplicações no sistema operativo móvel da Apple.

As ideias para novas aplicações têm de ser apresentadas em 300 caracteres e, de preferência, idealizar um conceito que não esteja já refletido nos milhares de conteúdos disponíveis na App Store.

Os vencedores terão ainda a oportunidade, quando puserem em prática os conhecimentos do livro, de mostrar aqui no TeK o resultado do trabalho. Fica garantida a cobertura noticiosa da app desenvolvida e com isso um primeiro escrutínio dos nossos leitores ao resultado desse trabalho.

• De 30 de outubro a 04 de novembro, os leitores do TeK devem enviar um email para o endereço passatempos.tek@sapo.pt com uma frase que resuma em 300 caracteres uma ideia para uma aplicação. Para a participação ser válida os participantes terão ainda de partilhar no seu perfil de Facebook a nota publicada na rede social dando conta da existência do passatempo.
• As frases enviadas por email para participação deverão ser acompanhadas da identificação do participante, contendo o nome, morada e telefone para entrega do prémio, no caso de ser vencedor.
• O passatempo termina às 23h59 de domingo, dia 04 de novembro de 2012, hora limite para o envio de frases.
• A seleção das melhores ideias será feita por um júri constituído pela redação do TeK e elementos da FCA. O júri seleciona seis finalistas. Entre estes, o júri elege uma das ideias (frases) vencedoras. As restantes cinco ideias finalistas serão colocadas a votação no TeK. A mais votada pelos leitores ganha.

Prémio para o melhor doutoramento em TI

  Está em marcha a primeira edição do prémio Melhor Tese de Doutoramento Ibérico em Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informação. A iniciativa é da Associação Ibérica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informação e tem como objetivo estimular a inovação e rigor do trabalho de investigação, ajudando também à sua divulgação.

Os interessados podem candidatar-se ao prémio até 31 de março de 2013, por email. A avaliação de trabalhos decorre nos dois meses seguintes, com os vencedores a serem anunciados durante a Conferência Ibérica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informação, que se realiza na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, entre 19 e 22 de junho.

Online, no site da AISTI estão disponíveis todo os detalhes sobre o prémio e o respetivo regulamento. No mesmo site está disponível informação sobre outros eventos e iniciativas promovidas pela associação, na área das Tecnologias da Informação.

Concurso promove tecnologia acessível

 

  A Mind Source está a promover um concurso que pretende promover o acesso indiferenciado às TI junto da franja da população com acesso mais dificultado à tecnologia: os idosos e os portadores de deficiência.

Concurso IT Acessível é o nome da iniciativa dirigida a estudantes de universidades e institutos politécnicos no segundo ano de mestrado nas áreas da informática ou áreas similiares.

Para participar os candidatos têm de optar por realizar o seu projeto de conclusão de mestrado nesta área. O concurso decorre entre outubro de 2012 e agosto de 2013 e, segundo a empresa, certificará os primeiros profissionais na Península Ibérica no âmbito da Tecnologia de Informação acessível.

"O que pretendemos é precisamente desafiar os futuros profissionais da área das IT em Portugal a criar um projeto inovador que promova a igualdade de oportunidades para todos os cidadãos do nosso país", defende Francisco Lopes da Fonseca, CEO da Mind Source.

3 Day Startup arrived in Lisbon!

No fim de semana de 2 a 4 de Novembro decorre no ISEG o 3DS Lisbon, um programa de aceleração de ideias, que visa juntar  40 estudantes de valências diferentes, com o intuito de criar startups.

Vais ter a possibilidade de trabalhar com pessoas áreas diferentes, desenvolver capacidades como trabalho de equipa, pensamento crítico, aprendizagem e criatividade e ainda contar com o aconselhamento de mentores experientes. No final farás um pitch a investidores. Esta é uma oportunidade de passares um fim-de-semana na companhia de pessoas fantásticas, a fazer coisas extraordinárias.

What is 3 Day Startup?

The idea of 3 Day Startup is simple: start a technology company over the course of three days. We rent work space for an entire weekend, recruit 40 students with a wide range of backgrounds, cater food and drinks, invite top-notch entrepreneurs and investors, pick the best idea for a software startup during the Friday brainstorming session, and release a minimal prototype by Sunday night. The goal is to build enough momentum among a network of motivated people to sustain the company beyond the weekend.

Who?

Passionate students with an entrepreneurial drive, including Computer Science (PhD, MS, undergraduate), MBAs, law students, graphic designers, PR, business undergraduates, etc. We are looking for strong candidates that can fill the following roles:

It’s also a social and business experiment to see how much a group of passionate people can accomplish over the course of 60 hours.

AppsFuel & AppCircus Present the HTML5 App Challenge!

AppsFuel is the first official sponsor of the AppCircus HTML5 App Challenge!  Even our names have a little something in common. ;-)))

The HTML5 App Challenge is an online contest for ambitious, apps-crazy developers to see whose HTML5 app will be judged the “best of show” by the AppsFuel and AppCircus jury of experts. The winner will earn a place to pitch their app in front of an international audience of industry leaders at the prestigious Mobile Premier Awards, held during the MWC in Barcelona in February 2013. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a great HTML5 mobile app and an all-consuming drive to earn a place on the global stage! Naturally, the winner will also be included in the AppsFuel Marketplace.

In case you haven’t heard of AppCircus yet, let me introduce you, quoting from the AppCircus website:

AppCircus is a unique global traveling showcase of the most creative and innovative apps presented by their creators during some of the most influential international events in mobile/web… and offers each participant a chance to get a nomination to the Mobile Premier Awards @ MWC in Barcelona, Feb 2013.

How the HTML5 App Challenge will work:

Developers can visit the new HTML5 App Challenge website today and submit their HTML5 mobile apps, after having first uploaded them to the AppsFuel Marketplace, of course. So, if you’re not already registered, signup to our developer zone to upload your HTML5 mobile app. Throw your app into the ring! Remember that apps must be developed using web technologies, HTML5, JS, CSS and be optimized for smartphones or tablets.

Anybody can then go to the site and vote for their favorite app and share the excitement of participating on Facebook and Twitter.

During each of the three months of the contest, there will be a new winner announced on the site and through our social media channels. Then, at the close of the contest, the grand prize winner will be chosen from among all the apps submitted. All the rules are posted on the HTML5 App Challenge website.

Hold on, there’s one more thing – if you’re a developer in the area around Naples, you do not want to miss the AppCircus workshop to be held at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. Take part in free training workshops at AppCircus Madrid!




 
AppCircus arrives in Madrid on November 8 offering developers a great opportunity to learn about the talents of the Spanish capital in the development of mobile applications. One of the main attractions of AppCircus Madrid, which has the support of Nokia, BlueVia, Inesdi and the University Rey Juan Carlos, is an extensive free programme of training workshops.
 
Attendees can learn about new opportunities for the distribution of their apps and how to make their apps work from the point of view of business, with top experts from Nokia, BlueVia, Samsung and Inesdi. You can join up for these workshops for free here.
 
Opening up our cities


 
The world is changing fast, and so is the way we interact with the cities we live in. The Open Cities challenges are designed around four themes: open data, crowdsourcing, urban labs and fiber-to-the-home. The challenges are open for individuals and organizations and aim to foster the development of products and services based on the platforms provided by the participating cities. We’re looking for innovative app ideas about how to turn data into utility for Europe’s citizens. There’ll be a lot more happening and some big prizes for winning proposals, so keep your eyes on this.

Cutting edge, smart apps will be developed and shared among six participating cities: Helsinki, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin, Manchester and Barcelona. “And the winner at AppCircus Lima is….”


 
Helena Virtual Assistant, an app that helps people with sight problems was the worthy winner at AppCircus Lima.  Using a tablet with a braille keyboard, this app  offers an easy to use interface  to send and receive emails and SMS, listen to eBooks and send their location by GPS, among many other things. The Lima event, sponsored by BlackBerry, brought together a wide range of developers with apps related to subjects like culture, entertainment, gastronomy and transport.
 
HackJam is on the move in Asia!


 
The first Asia-Pacific HackJam has just taken place with attendees taking part in a 40-hour non-stop hackathon in five Asian cities on Oct 12- 14. The next one takes place October 19- 21 in Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh, Bangkok, Shanghai and Melbourne. Asia: Get hacking! #BBhackjam
